TracePath Docs
TracePath is a hosted observability platform. It stores traces, metrics, logs and errors from your applications, groups the errors into issues, tracks endpoint latency and failures, runs synthetic uptime monitors, and pages whoever is on call when something breaks. It is operated as a service by AtlasAPX Kamil Krawczyk — there is nothing to install or host.
Everything reaches TracePath over plain OpenTelemetry (OTLP/HTTP), so instrumenting an
application means configuring an endpoint and an Authorization header in the
OpenTelemetry SDK, agent or Collector you already use.
Send your first trace
You need an account and a project token. Sign up at app.tracepath.dev/register (opens in a new tab), create a project, and copy that project's token from its Connection page.
Put that token in TRACEPATH_PROJECT_TOKEN and point any OpenTelemetry exporter at the
ingest host with the standard OTLP environment variables. For most services this is the
whole integration:
export OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT=https://ingest.tracepath.dev/api/otel
export OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_PROTOCOL=http/protobuf
export OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_HEADERS="Authorization=Bearer $TRACEPATH_PROJECT_TOKEN"
export OTEL_SERVICE_NAME=checkout-apiThe SDK appends the signal path itself, so the base endpoint above resolves to
/api/otel/v1/traces, /api/otel/v1/metrics and /api/otel/v1/logs.
To check a token before you wire up an application, post an empty OTLP batch. A valid
token answers 200 OK with {}; an unknown or revoked one answers 401 with no body:
curl -i -X POST https://ingest.tracepath.dev/api/otel/v1/traces \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TRACEPATH_PROJECT_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"resourceSpans":[]}'Then follow the OpenTelemetry guide for your language or framework.
Endpoints and hosts
| Host | What it serves |
|---|---|
app.tracepath.dev | Dashboard, sign-up and sign-in, and the management API |
ingest.tracepath.dev | Telemetry ingest: POST /api/otel/v1/{traces,metrics,logs} |
docs.tracepath.dev | These docs |
tracepath.dev | Product site, pricing and legal documents |
Ingest accepts OTLP protobuf (application/x-protobuf) and OTLP JSON
(application/json), optionally Content-Encoding: gzip, up to 10 MB per decompressed
request. Larger batches are rejected with 413; split them or lower your exporter's
batch size.
